Dr. Jennifer Zhang

Therapy, to me, is a space where the many layers of who you are can be met with honesty, care, and genuine curiosity.

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and am now based in New York City. As a bilingual (Mandarin) 1.5-generation Chinese American who immigrated at age three, I learned early on what it means to move between different cultural worlds and the expectations that come with them.

My background

I opened my private practice to focus on depth-oriented therapy. This work allows for reflection, understanding, and meaningful change over time. Before becoming a psychologist, I spent time teaching English test preparation in Shanghai.

I understand how it feels to be pulled in more than one direction, to hold quiet pressures, or to sense that something is off even when everything looks fine on the surface. That lived experience informs my commitment to providing culturally responsive care that feels grounding, thoughtful, and attuned.

In our work together, I offer a calm, steady space where you can bring the parts of yourself you often keep quiet. My role is to help you listen inward, understand the patterns shaping your life, and move toward greater clarity, self-trust, and groundedness.

Training and credentials

Clinical experience

I have worked across community, hospital, and psychological assessment settings and completed my doctoral internship at Kings County Hospital.
